New Certificates

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Since yesterday, January 31, 2008, the two Living Reviews servers www.livingreviews.org and dev.livingreviews.org have new certificates for secure communication over HTTPS.

While this means some disruption now, until all clients have installed/accepted the new certificates, it also has some benefits. The new certificates are valid for 5 years and they are signed by a root certificate authority which comes preinstalled as trusted authority on many more operating systems/browsers than the previous one. Alternatively the root certificate can be installed following the instructions on the website of the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) of the Deutsches Forschungsnetz (DFN).
